Jasmine Kisses (Sketch WIP)

Had this idea a couple months ago. With the band doing more instrumentals, I want to run this past them.

The melody will be guitar or uke or both, cant wait to hear what they can come up with.  ;)

More to come.

This Band Rocks!

I am in constant awe over the musicianship and talent of my band mates.
We are working on some new material that absolutely blows me away.
Playing in Kua'aina is adding even more ideas to my musical palette.

We have a gig coming up in the next month or so, and I am excited to play for our band and the prospects of sitting in with Brazen Hussy formerly SuBoCa.

All these talented musicians and they seem to like what I bring to the table.

I just wanna play baby.

More to come.

Project Recovery PI 1-11-14

Had a great time playing the Project Recovery benefit for the Phillipines Last night at the Sterling Hotel in Downtown Sacramento. Our band Kua'aina, was the first to go on and I thought that we did pretty damn good with the exception of my part of a song that I had a brain fart on. My band mates covered for me by continuing to play through, thank goodness.  A great tip for any new musicians in a performing band, is to resist the urge to just stop playing completely mid song whenever there is a hiccup on the road.
This was the first time that I played my bass through a DI set up direct to the house sound and only able to monitor my playing with the stage monitors; while the sound engineer did a great job of mixing us, I think my personal preference is to have an amp and cab behind me when I play. It just makes me feel more confident when I can hear and feel the bass rumble. I played my Ibanez BTB775PB which is a five string bass with the Low B. After performing with it I am really thinking now that I feel more comfortable with a standard four string. I have my eyes on a Sadowski Metro from Bass and Beyond in Rancho Cordova, California.

We were followed by a local duo of young singers that really brought down the house with their R+B and soul stylings. Rodge Mamuang and Sene' Goss sound like they should be recording and performing world wide. Rodge has been performing since he was a teenager and Sene’ has even opened for the Black Eyed Peas. I know it won't be too long before they are house hold names I'm sure. It just goes along with what I am always saying that Sacramento contains a well-spring of un-tapped talent.
Talent like the Amazing Danedini who wowed the crowd with his Magic effects and illusions, fresh off his appearance on Good Day Sacramento.
Performer Jennie Kwan rounded out the performances with her song stylings. Her performance made me think I was in a high dollar Broadway musical. A seasoned voice with great control.
The benefit was a great time, there was food provided by Restaurant Thir13en and Broderick's Restaurant, desserts by Sinful Treats and wine and beer by Delicato Family Vinyards, Hoppy Brewery, and 21st Amendment Brewery.
Our MC was none other than TV's Tina Macuha and she kept the party going and when she was done for the night DJ Wreck of 3 Style Attractions finished the hosting and provided great ambient dance music while folks mingled and ate and enjoyed drinks.
Here's the official Facebook link to the event--check it  out !!
